Robert Grant

(Western District and Archdiocese of Glasgow) Born at Strathavon, Banffshire, on 10th July 1842, the son of John Grant and Jessie (Grant ?); ordained a priest in church of Visitation nuns, Valladolid, 20th April 1867, and left for Scotland, 14th June 1867; retired, 1901, and died in Calais, 20th March 1909.

Report of the ordination of Robert Grant in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1868.

The Rev. Robert Grant was born in Strathaven, Banffshire, 10th July 1842. He was admitted into Blairs College, 14th July 1856, and sent, 14th Sept. 1858, to the Scots College of Valladolid. Having received the Tonsure and Minor Orders from Don Juan Ignacio Moreno, Abp. of Valladolid, in his private Oratory on the 16th, he was ordained Subdeacon 17th March, and Deacon 6th April, and on the 20th of same month, 1867, being Holy Saturday, he was promoted to the Priesthood by the same Prelate in the Church of the Nuns of the Visitation. He arrived in Scotland on 3d of July following, and was sent to supply in Dumbarton. In a short time he was removed to St Mary’s, Glasgow.
